Six months since Apple announced it and years of rumours, we finally have Amazon Prime Video app on Apple TV. Starting from today, customers will be able to watch whatever they want, with library showing up if there is connection to any other Apple device. Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue said “Amazon Prime Video is one of the most eagerly anticipated apps to come to Apple TV, so we’re excited to bring all of that great content to customers”. The sports tab in the Apple TV app will make it even easier for fans in the US to track the teams, games and moments that are important to them.

To install the new app, go to App Store, and type “Amazon” or just “Amazon Prime” and click on the icon. Once it is installed, select “Sign in and start watching”, if you have a Prime account, or “No thanks, start browsing” to see what movies and TV shows are available. The lack of Amazon Prime on Apple TV has been a major omission for years, but it’s only grown bigger as Amazon’s video library has expanded to include award-winning original shows and movies. The new app puts Apple TV on equal footing with Roku and although Apple TV is much more expensive, it could propel purchases of Apple’s streaming device as the holidays near.

Once you download the app and link your account, the TV app will spotlight new and popular shows as well as anything you’ve started watching. Videos will play in 4K HDR with an Apple TV $K and compatible TV set. The things that you can watch are Prime Movies and TV Shows, Purchased Movies and TV Shows, Rentals, and Premium channels such as HBO. Membership charge on a monthly basis is 10.99$ while a charge on an annual basis is 99$.
